For the architecture magazine "Forum" Willem Jan wrote an article about shrinkage in the province of Groningen. A topical subject, which is subject to a great deal of research from various disciplines. Willem Jan wrote the article "Nait zoezen moar broezen" about the shrinkage in the municipality of Delfzijl. Reality TV Show

Willem Jan is part of the professional crew as a helmsman, with skipper Hans Bouscholte and fellow helmsman Erik van Vuuren, in the Reality show "Alle Hens Aan Dek". On the legendary Swan 65 Kings' Legend they sailed across the Atlantic Ocean from Las Palmas to The Hague, via the Fastnet Rock, together with 5 Dutch celebrities and 4 camera crew members.
